Cingular Internet Moblie Phone Settings

I knew that if I searched long enough, I would find a page where a technical person would do a write up on connecting your mobile phone to the Cingular wireless data networks as well as talk in detail about the technologies. I found that page here. I still can’t seem to get the ftp client I downloaded for my 6620 to work, but I get terrible GPRS signal up here. I will have to try it when I am down in the lowlands. :)

For any windows mobile: Per Cingular these are setting for ISP for internet Explorer, WAP emails and Media, and Proxy settings: What you have did NOT work, but this did as of 06-30-2006:

    WINDOWS START SETTINGS, CONNECTIONS, CONNECTION

    Cingular settings:

    ISP: For internet explorer

    Choose Cellular line GPRS
    Access point: isp.cingular (lower case)
    Name: ISP@CINULARGPRS.COM (CAPS)
    PASS: CINGULAR1 (CAPS)

    NOTHING FOR ADVANCED
    FINISH

    WAP For media, and emails

    Access point: wap.cingular (lower case)
    Name: WAP@CINULARGPRS.COM (CAPS)
    PASS: CINGULAR1 (CAPS)

    NOTHING FOR ADVANCED
    FINISH

    PROXY SERVERS

Check both This network connects to the internet
And this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet

    Go to ADVANCED
Http: wireless.cingular.com (all small) port is 80
    WAP: (LEAVE BLANK)
    WAPSECURE: (LEAVE BLANK)
Socks localhost (small) Port is 1080

i just got the Cingular 8125 and i can not for the life of me get my internet to work…i keep getting a error msg ‘cannot connect for an unknow reason’…i am NOT a tech person and so i would give N-E thing for someone to walk me through this…i really enjoy this phone, but really do need the internet & email to be working, which is why i got the phone in the first place!

i went back and tried one more time and while i’m not sure what i did differently, this time is seems to be working! You are the greatest…i thank you for posting this info!

  4. Matt Says:

You need to select PAP under Authentication Settings on the 8125 to get the settings above to work, I don’t know if you need it for all phones.

Guess I am a bit slow- how do I set up the Media Net browser on my cell phone-
I need the IP address at a minimum I know- port setting, DNS, homepage, service type ( I assume WAP), domain- I can also enter secondary info for this. I have a Motorola phone that is capable of using media net just don’t know how to set it up on the phone. thanks

does anyone know how to get the word mobile to work? i keep getting an error msg and therefore can’t get a blank page to work with. HELP!

  7. Jason Golod (108 comments.) Says:

Rosalyn, did you mean world and not word? You have to get Cingular to enable your account for worldwide use, if that is what you are asking. BTW, international data roaming is EXTREMELY expensive. But, maybe you are not paying for it. :)

ok i have some settings here that you might find useful. I work for data support at CW and saw this page figure i give you more settings you can try. let’s say those settings do not work. for the proxy settings disable the second box. ( u should have 2 boxes ) and use the wap. cingular & username WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM, isp will not always work, keep that in mind. ~bb

Wow… I love those sites that have Excellent information but you have to print it and leave it in the bathroom, because you’ll never read it in one sitting ;-)

    Just too long.

Here.. I found this site that sums it up nicely.
    http://www.gruups.com/cingular_internet

Although Keith Stone summed it up very nicely.

Jason, don’t you have this written better somewhere else (I also was looking around and found your site before with excellent instructions)

Maybe I’ll search some more through your site.
