Speakeasy DSL 6Mbits Baby!
April 28th, 2005 - One CommentOk, so sometimes we get a little crazy in life. For me, this usually means that I buy some kind of electronis or technology product that I really don’t “need.” Well, I was over at a friends house one day and he was telling me about Speakeasy DSL service and that they are basically the DSL provider for geeks. Well, I checked them out and I found that I could get a 6Mb/768Kb DSL line here for about $100 a month. Now this is not for everyone, but combined with my Media Center PC and all of the work on line that I do, I was able to “justify” the expense. So, let me tell you…this DSL line is REALLY FAST. It is unbelievable how fast it is. And, as I have come to love, it is always there with the same level of service…unlike my Comcast cable modem service. I have to say, Comcast’s cable service in Pacific Heights is terrible. I had Time Warner Cable modem service in San Diego since they started it and I loved it. It always worked great and if it didn’t, they had a real local person with answers to talk to. Not the case with Comcast.
Back to Speakeasy. I would recommend their service to anyone. All I can say is that you are probably going to want to get yourself an unlimited bandwidth newsgroup feed to go along with your new DSL line. I am not sure that all of you will be able to get the 6Mb down speed that I was able to, but Speakeasy was a snap to get put in here. Plus, they have service even if you do not have a hard wired phone line. They are on top of their game.
