Jaguar XK Victory Edition to Sport Bluetooth

May 29th, 2005 - 13 Comments

Just came across the Jaguar XK Victory Edition that is to be released some time soon. The car is being released to celebrate Jaguar’s XKR, Trans Am Series, race cars’ (with 650bhp) four Manufacturer’s Cup outright wins. Basically, they have been kicking the crap out of everyone else since they introduced the XKR race program. So, Jaguar has decided to release the XK Victory Edition with a supercharged V8. The “normal” XK cars sport 294 bhp with their stout V8s, but the Victory Edition Coupe and Convertible will put out an estimated 390 BHP…you need that . The Victory Edition cars will also come equipped with custom leather Recaro ‘race style’ seats and Bluetooth phone controls built into the steering wheel. Jaguar has seen the light and realized that Bluetooth functionality is something that their cars should come with. Nice work Jaguar, the XK Victory Edition is one sweet ride. And, the carbon fiber interior trim is, niiiiice.

I have a 2005 Jaguar X and a TREO 650….I have Bluetooth on both but the Jaguar won’t pair…any ideas? I have spoken to and mailed the president of Jaguar but no luck yet….

I have the same problem. I was sure to download the latese version of the Palm OS. The frustrating thing is it DID work ONCE. One-time. That was it. Then it kept saying “headset” or some such. Very frustrating.

I have the same issue with my 2007 XK using a T-mobile Dash. It worked once and then goes into “headset” mode where sometimes it allows calls to be dialed but the audio is only on the handset not on car’s audio system.

Same problem with Treo 650 here. I have just take delivery of my XKR only to find my treo does not work. What a poor show from Jaguar given what we pay for the car.

If you search hard enough, you will find that Jaguar’s implementation of Bluetooth does not support “PDAs” such as Treos and Blackberries. While they give some technical mumbo jumbo, the bottom kine is that all of their competion seems to have figured out. My Lexus SUV and my wife’s Mercerdes work without a hitch. The same holds true for friends with BMWs or Infinitis. I would think that it would not be all that unusual for a Jaguar owner to be a Treo/Blackberry user. There are no excuses – it’s simply a Jaguar failing.

  6. My 2007 XK8 will not pair with my new 8830, but my Jeep Cherokee SRT8 will! HA! The sick thing is that I dumped my Treo 650 for the Blackberry thinking that the change would do the trick.

The guys at the dealership are stumped. Perhaps if they hound Jag for a firmware upgrade, we can drive our cars like civilized abusers of mobile phones.

My 07 XK pairs properly with both of my Motorola’s, V3 and V3i but will occasionally dock, usually they disconnect within 3 seconds. It’s a daily ritual trying to reconnect until I finally give and select Cancel. Funny thing is that it’s most likely to connect/dock in the morning upon the first start-up. The dealer told me it was the cell providers towers were either too overloaded with traffic or there wasn’t enough signal strength in my area, just another lame excuse. Jaguar hasn’t returned my email inqiuiries as of yet.

Just bought an XK at Alvarez in Riverside CA. Same problem with the phone, This is an AT&T phone late model.

    Jag needs to fix this.

I coughed up $600 for an apple iphone, it works great , i haven’t had any problems with BT. By the way I receieved a list of approved phones from Jaguar and the Motorola V3i was on the list , yet it didn’t work. No explanation for this was provided.

I also had problems with my Nokia E61……….
The only solution I found was to
    1. get a clone sim card
    2. go into the jag website and download what phones it will bluetooth.
    3. buy the cheapest phone, install the duplicate card
    Now it works perfectly!
I simply leave the new phone permanently in the glove compartment.
when in the car, if I have both phones, both ring, but so what?

how did you get a clone sim card. I am in australia and my carries says that it is not possible to get another sim card with the same number.

    this is for curban…………
I use Vodafone here in Spain and asked them to provide me with one. I had no problem as they know me. It certainly is possible and is not illegal here. If fact I told them why I wanted one. Perhaps you should move to Spain!!

The newer jags are nice. I always felt that the older ones weren’t much nicer then their Ford counterparts.

You didn’t mention it in the article, but in new jags you can control the bluetooth with the touch screen now too.
