Audiovox SMT 5600
I just came across the Audiovox SMT 5600 Smartphone. I have not seen the phone in person, but from what I can see, it seems like a pretty sweet package. Let me say for the record that I am not a Microsoft fan, but I think they are finally making a compelling argument (my new favorite saying) for using their software. They are making it easy for people to seamlessly move data and sync data between devices (computer, phone, car, mobile devices). This is a reason to use their products. For years most mobile devices like Palm Pilots, Blackberrys and some phones have sync’d with programs like Microsoft Outlook with ease. This is great for people like me who forget everything. Placing an appointment or event (like a birthday) into Outlook will then trigger an alarm on any device that syncs with Outlook…like my Nokia 6620 Smartphone.
The one advantage I see that the Audiovox SMT 5600 has, is that it uses the Windows Mobile OS with Media Player 10 for mobile devices. This should mean that you can use most of the features you would think you can use or at least be able to in the near future. I have yet to figure out an easy way to send and receive pop email, that my Nokia 6620 supposedly supports. I know it can do it, I just have no idea how to set it up, how I will be charged or why it is so frickin’ difficult to get going. How about some documentation on your services Cingular?
