Gas Prices Due to Oil Supply or Refining Capacity

I was just reading an article from the Associated Press who did a wide-ranging interview with Adel al-Jubeir, top foreign policy adviser for Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler Crown Prince Abdullah. Al-Jubeir spoke about many things including Saudi Arabia’s oil reserves, their ability to sustain increased levels of oil production and about the current conditions in the United States. One of the most interesting items that al-Jubeir pointed out was that the US has not built a refinery in the United States since the 1970’s. He stated that sending more crude oil to the United States would not do any good if the US could not refine the oil into fuels we need and use here. Kind of makes you wonder what is really going on. I am going to have to ask Mike McAllister to come on over here and explain this a little better to us.
