Motorola IHF 1000 Bluetooth Car Kit
Some of the new Acuras, BMWs and Jaguars are coming with Bluetooth handsfree systems built into the car. You can transition between phone to car and back to your phone seamlessly via the Bluetooth hands free profile. So, what do you do if you don’t have one of these cars? You buy yourself a Motorola IHF 1000 Bluetooth car kit. The system is totally trick and you can get one for less than $200 if you follow that link I just showed you.

I also have the SMT 5600 and just bought this motorola car kit, but have yet to install it. Did it pair well with your smt 5600?

It paired no problem. However; everytime I turn the car off it loses the Handsfree designation for the ihf1000. The ihf1000 still lists the phone on its paired devices list but when you give command “connect phone 1″ (smt5600 is phone 1), it will not connect until you go into smt5600 and AGAIN designate the ihf1000 as “Set as Hands-free”. Audiovox claims Bluetooth Class 2 with support for Hands Free Profile 1.0 (HFP 1.) and Motorola makes the same claim. I have tried the ihf1000 with a friend’s Nokio bluetooth. In that case his phone simply notified that the ihf1000 was trying to connect, user presses Yes, and all is cool. Not so with my Audiovox smt5600. Let me know if your phone worked with it. Perhaps I have a bad 5600.

I have the exact same problem with the ihf-1000 and a samsung i730. when i start the car i need to go into the bluetooth settings of my phone and designate the ihf-1000 as hands free, every time i start the car.
i know other people have had this problem with various phones. this really sucks as it defeats the purpose/convenience of the device if you can’r have it automatically connect.
i wish i knew of a workaround.
