Word Press 1.5
June 1st, 2005 - No Comments YetI have just updated the golod.com site to the latest release of Word Press (1.5) and I am a big fan. Word Press is an open source blogging platform that is a breeze to set up and administrate. 1.5 has a bunch of great new features including support for static html pages that reside outside of the blog framework. This is great for people who are looking for a really simple to use CMS (content management system) system and don’t need a ton of features. It is perfect for someone like me who is looking for a blog and also some static pages.
One of the coolest features is the theme implementation. WordPress uses CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) to layout and style the pages you see here. The beauty of using CSS for all of this is that you can easily change the look of the site, a page or a category by reworking the style sheet…the underlying HTML stays the same. There are a couple of hundred free Word Press 1.5 themes that are available for download as I write this and they are super simple to install and use. All you have to do is download the theme file to your server, extract the files and then select it in the Word Press Dashboard. It is really nice.
