Push Email Client for Series 60 Symbian Phones
Ok, I just came across a push email client for Series 60/Symbian OS phones. It is called MailX. MailX is a subscription based push email system designed to work on phones using the Symbian Operating System. I was pretty excited when I first heard there was a push email client for my phone, but after checking it out, I am not so sure I will get it. The documentation on the site is not so great and it is pretty clear that the person who wrote the copy on the MailX page does not speak English as their first language. That does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside for some reason. The big problem I have is, I am not sure how I would use it. I like the idea of being able to send and possibly receive email from my phone at times, but when will my phone receive the email and when will my computer at home? I think what I really need is to get myself some kind of Treo or something that has a Remote Desktop Client that will allow me to log into my Windows XP box and get on to Outlook. Or, I can set up a mobile email address and those people (probably one or two) who know I am not at the computer, can send me email there.
The bottom line is, I am not that important and while I like the idea of instant messaging via email, I am probably better off getting a good IM client that will run on my Nokia 6620.
