Sony and SanDisk to Collaborate on Memory Stick for Mobile Phones

I never understood what Sony’s problem was, using their own proprietary memory sticks for all of their mobile devices such as cameras, MP3 players and laptop computers. Their Memory Stick PRO sticks are usually two to three times as expensive as comparable MMC or CF card memory that everyone else uses. I understand the mentality Sony used at the beginning to use their own memory, but at this point, why not help your sales out. I for one would have bought Sony on a number of occaisions, but didn’t simply because of the stupid Sony memory stick issue. Now Sony is teaming up with SanDisk again for a new mobile phone memory stick. What is the deal?
