Commission Junction Throw Me a Bone!
Ok, this is something that has annoyed me for a while, but only now have I decided to rant about it. Probably because I blew myself up this past weekend thinking I was in college again…so, I might be a *little* crankier than my normal self. But, I am getting tired of receiving the “Deactivated Advertiser” notices via email that are about as helpful as someone running by and telling me that it is getting dark outside. Telling me that an advertiser or some specific links are going dead is great and I think you sending me an email is great. But, how about telling me which links *specifically* are going bye-bye? I mean, you go 90% of the way and then run away before the last 10% is done. I actually tried to reply to the email I received yesterday and it of course bounced. Don’t want to recieve email from your publishers? What the hell is that all about? Maybe you don’t want to hear that your system is not working as it should and that you might actually have to do some work on it? Kinda like the CJU (Commission Junction University). But, don’t get me started on that. But, seriously. I think anyone who runs an ecommerce business can learn from this. If you are going to communicate with your clients, then use an email address that you will respond to replys from. Not doing that is just a bunch of crap. Yeah, customer service sucks…I know this. But, it should help you to improve your products and services that translates into increased user satisfaction and increased profits. Sigh.

I REALLY like the overall look of the three column layout you have. Any chance you can email me the basic layout, as I have BLOGGER.
I’d appreciate it.

BAH! CJ is a pain, in general. They’re a great idea - all of your affiliate stuff in one place - but they’re so user unfriendly at the beginning.
They’ve rolled out this great “CJ University” thing, to help new publishers learn how to use their system. Only problem is that it isn’t availible until you sign up. Took me a good while to figure out just how to sign up.
Once you get into the control panel, it’s still a bit unfriendly, as you have to have some decent technical skills and/or knowledge to figure out just how to use smart zones, etc…
Although nothing I’m using has been deactivated (yet), I’m anticipating the day I have to slap CJ around in my mind.

I’ve gotten my share of deactivated advertisers over the years. It’s a pain to find the links spread across 100 sites, especially when they are encrypted.
I just check the “clicks from invalid links” report. I think it misses a lot of stuff though I can’t prove it.

I recently did my own test to verify CJ’s tracking, honesty and customer service. I purchased a number of items via different CJ advertisers banners I promote on my websites. Using a dummy computer, a different IP addy and with it set to accept all CJ’s cookies. Out of the nearly $150. USD commissions I should have earned, I have been credited with just over $7.00 USD. No help from Customer Service (Bry-Bry), “its everyone elses fault”. So in my opinion, CJ has NO truthful tracking, No customer service, little to no honesty.
Its funny how you get the penny commissions, but none of the real commissions $20. - $100.. Makes you wonder were all that money is going, doesn’t it?
