Google Launches U.S. Government Search
Yipppeeee! I think this whole NSA eavesdropping thing is kind of funny. I was at the store this morning picking up a few snacky snacks and I noticed a comic taped to the cashier’s register. It was a picture of a bunch of people using their cell phones right next to each other at the park or something. The headline read, “Americans don’t want anyone listening to their private phone calls.” I chuckled and thought how funny it was that people are worried more about someone listening to what they are saying (very, very, very, very, very unlikely that this will ever happen) rather than the fact that the NSA is building a database of who called who and when. Hopefully, I don’t have anything to worry about, but it seems to me that it would be pretty easy to play a pretty bad joke on someone with a cell phone or two and a couple of “overseas” phone numbers.
Google announced today thier latest offering, Google U.S. Government Search. Anyway, I guess it was good timing because now you can see all kinds of information that the U.S. government has on you and your buddies. Well, not really. I tried to look up some info on myself and a few other people that I know and I did not find any dirt. But, I guess it is a good place to go if you need to find a form or something like that from the IRS, BOE, EDD or any other three lettered U.S. government agency.
