Back to the Basics
Well, it was a fun ride, but I think it is time that everyone is going to have to come back to the basics here pretty soon. I have been running the Coop on a bunch of sites since its inception and I think those days are coming to an end. I suspect that Google will be receiving a lot of re-inclusion requests over the next couple of weeks as people start to pull the advertising network from their sites. There have been too many “the DP Coop is evil” threads on too many forums to even think about linking to a few. But, it seems pretty clear to me, from my own personal evidence, and from talking to a few friends, that the coop may be the “poisin pill” to borrow a phrase.
I have managed to leave the coop running on these sites on a small scale, one ad per site and not monkeyed with anything other than adding or removing a few terms. This week, I have seen one of my oldest and most trusted sites get completely nuked from the serps. I think there is one term out of about 100 that I monitor in Google that this site still shows up on the radar for…but, I suspect that this will be gone in the next day or two. So, it is back to the basics I guess, which is a good thing. I have also seen a number of sites that are 100% legit making solid improvements this week…which is how it is supposed to be…so hats off to the Google people. I think it is about time that they do something to prevent such easy manipulation of their and other search engines. Let the games begin.
