My Reason Why AOL Coulda Been a Contenda

All of us geeks have had to deal with AOL at one time or another in our lifetimes on line. Either we installed AOL back in the day to make sure one or more of our sites were compatible with the AOL browser or we have had to deal with users and clients who could not use a feature because the AOL browser would hiccup on something.

Well, I was using the latest version of AOL’s software to act as a proxy. It is fast, simple and the IPs are not blocked by many of the sites that block well known anonymous proxies. The problem is, just like in the old days, AOL f’s up my computer like nobody’s business. Every time I fire it up, I get one shot before I have to hard reboot my desktop machine. The computer will not shut down, probably because of some BS service that AOL has running after I fire it up.

Why is it that after all of these years, they have never seen the need or managed to put a software package together that just works without hosing everything else on the computer? No wonder they have bled customers every year since 2000.
