How Many Calories in a Guinness Beer?
February 5th, 2008 - 15 CommentsFirst things first, I AM ALIVE. A lot of things have gone on in the past month or two. Our home was basically destroyed because of a dumb ass plumber. So, $40K+ later, hopefully it will be fixed. We have moved, hit me up if you need the new address. I started a new gig…which is kinda funny because I am not really a gig kind of guy. And, there is a bunch of other stuff, but that is not what is important right now. What IS important is that there are only 125 calories in a 12oz serving of Guinness beer. That is quite nice, especially if you like Guinness like I do.
Hope all is well with everyone out there. Drop me a line and let me know how you are doing. I am going to get back to my Guinness.

You are gay. Who counts beer calories and calls a job a “gig”. Too easy.
Guinness is too dark and thick of a beer for me. But I’m Irish, so each year I give it another try…but still don’t like it!
More than I need right now!!
God thank Guinness at so few calories. Only trouble is sticking to the one serving
One of the things – probably the only thing I know – I like about Irish is this dark beer – I also like kilkini…
Cheers,
Ajith
humm love those guiness beers..
hope you get that house fix ASAP
get those beers comin’ !
Hmm~~actually, I don’t like Guiness very much:) too dark
yeah, Guinness is basically what you would need to get over a 40,000 plumbing bill. when you burn the barley you reduce the overall yeast but maintain the alcohol levels. so less calories.
170 calories I’m afraid
Sorry Mates, but you all are in error regarding the caloric content of “the black liquidation with the froth on top.” 1 pint of Guinness (draught) contains 196 calories. This comes from the actual Guinness website, under product faqs. Incidentally to the lovely lass Beth, I too had a bit of diificulty getting accustomed to Guinness, but it is now my beverage of choice. Here’s how I did it(all recommendations are draught, which is how beer was intended to be served and enjoyed). Start with the red or amber ale of your choice and drink as you would for a couple of months. This should get you used to a beer with some flavour. Next, a smooth Irish ale, such as Kilkenny’s for the same period of time.cThis will get you used to a bit of a thicker consistency. Next move on to a bitter ale such as Tetley’s Bitter for about the same period of time. As the name implies this will get you accustomed to a slightly bitter taste. You can either enroll for one more term, with Murphy’s Irish Stout which is an ale with flavours of roasted barley and caramel…OR… you can graduate to Guinness and enjoy the burnt malt, dark toffee, subtle fruit undertones and hint of liquorice finish. Slainthe.
ps: Good luck with your new gig and the house repairs. Obviously the “Dude” (who would call themselves that anyway) is a meat-head.
On my (American, imported from Ireland) Guinness bottle itself it says 125 per 12 oz. The calories might be different (higher) in a draft (draught) pint, or in a brew exported to a different country. Also a pint in the British Isles is 20 ounces vs 16 in the US.
Who cares about calories when the beer is so darn good
Dude, YOU are in error. According to the GUINNESS website there are 35.2 calories in 100ml of Guinness Draught. That means, based on a 16oz pint vs. 500ml half-liter, there are 5(35.2) or 176 calories in a little more than a 16oz pint. So, here in the good ole USA, where “pints” are routinely served in 16oz mixing glasses (which of course means you’re not getting a pint) not to mention with HUGE heads on top (which further means you’re not getting anywhere near a proper “pint) you getting less than 176 calories per glass. Now, with an “imperial” 20oz pint glass (still with a HUGE head, mind you) there is 591.47059125ml, ok, call it 600ml, therefore 6(35.2) = 211.2 calories, but with the head, it’s still going to be less. SO 16oz glass = < 176 20oz glass = < 210.
The Dude, is the true fag.
