Google Losening the Leash?

Seems to me that things have returned to a bit more “normal” level in the past few months with regards to inbound links. I mentioned to a friend that I thought things like the DP coop network might actually becoming viable again, even though Google mentioned that they updated some things to prevent some of the Google Bombing recently. Seems to me that no matter where you pick up links these days, they are giving some street cred more than they used to. This could be because Google was not discounting the spammers as well, or because they think they have a better handle on things now that their new infrastructure has had some time to season.
