It is kind of a pain when you are using new technology because there is little documentation for the products you are using. Plus there are usually a small number of people who are using the same components you are which makes it difficult to find help for your exact situation…even on line. One of the things that has been giving me headaches is the way MCE 2005 displays albums when in the My Music area of the MCE interface. I imported about 17,000 songs from various hard drives, etc. onto my new Media Center Edition PC. From what I have read on Microsoft.com and other sources, MCE will use Media Player to organize and get information about albums and songs. Media Player uses music.microsoft.com for it’s album information. I think I have finally figured out how to best use MP10 to organize my music files and how to modify the file tags so that all albums are displayed properly when using MCE 2005. So, if you are having trouble getting all of a particular album to display in MCE or getting MCE to even recognize an album, select “Albums/Artists” in MP10 (or Media Player 9) and make sure all of the artist and Album information you see in MP is identical for each album. If there is a spelling error or a difference in how the tag is formatted, Media Player will not aggregate the albums correctly.
