I ended up finding success using the &#8220;Ubuntu 8.10 Alternate CD&#8221; ISO. I ended up finding success using the &#8220;Ubuntu 8.10 Alternate CD&#8221; ISO.  The Thinkpad laptops&#8217; video doesn&#8217;t play nice with the Debian/Ubuntu installer, but using the vga=771 flag makes it all good in the hood.</p>
