Windows Mobile 5.0 IM Client

Yipppeeee. I found a bad ass, free, Mobile IM client for AOL IM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and Jabber (if you use Jabber type clients or Google Talk) for my Cingular 8125. The program is called Agile Messenger and you can check out the BETA via this forum post. NOTE: This is beta software, so if you don’t know what that means…then you most likely don’t want to install it. But, the Agile Messenger is working very nicely on my Cingular 8125 (aka HTC Wizard). It is basically Trillian for Windows Mobile 5.0. I am not sure why the Trillian guys are not all over developing a version of the kick-ass Trillian software for Windows Mobile. I saw a thread on their forums from people basically begging for it, but I guess they are not into it. Bad move to me, they could really own the IM client world with a 1-2 combo like that IMHO.

After a lot of searching I came across Agile as well. Its a great app, but my only gripe is that it doesn’t fill the entire screen (top area) on the 8125 – or have you not experienced this?

It doesn’t look like it’s free, though

I’m thinking about switching to Cingular and getting an 8525. Do you get charged for every IM you send on your 8125? Cingular’s rate plans seem to indicate that they will at least try to charge you? Thanks in advance.

Agile Messenger has now been changed to a subscription service.
    :-(

Get the unlimited data plan — $19.99. All the text messages and web views you can download.

I’ve been using Agile for a couple of years now. Sometime over a year ago they went to this weird subscription thing. My first version I was able to pay for once and that was that-on a Symbian Nokia 6682. When i got my new E62 I needed to upgrade, and found i have to make a small yet annoying payment every three months.

If they’d go to a pay-once system, I could recommend their product to my department for our windows mobile-based Treos. They’re not interested in the subscription based service however. I’d sent Agile an email asking if they’d do a sale for a site license but never got a reply.

On the plus side, Agile is the only way to keep AT&T/Cingular from charging you a per text message rate-even with unlimited data plan, activate the E62′s built in yahoo client and you get hit for each message in and out.

so does Agile connect you to IM Clients even without wifi? Because if it needs wifi i might as well log onto yahoo! messenger from the internet in my phone when i get wifi…

I was able to download the free version and it works great with my AOL instant messaging however, it will not connect with my yahoo IM. I have even tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling and it just won’t connect with yahoo. Has onyone else had this problem?

the cingular plan will charge every im to ur txt msg total if you use the built in aim ( at least on my blk jack2) which i find lame to have to pay for unlimited text when i am using what should be considered data band with (i have the unlimited plan). which bring up a weird question why is it considered a txt when i use aim at home its considerd data?
